We urge for togetherness, MP Hamid Hamid of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) told journalists in Parliament.

It is not a question of Facebook wars. Bulgarian citizens of Muslim origin, or ethnic Turks, have been harassed very aggressively by several former MPs of the MRF by instilling ethnic hatred, said Hamid, adding that this is not the philosophy of the MRF.

I think that Dogan [MRF’s honorary leader] won’t allow a few feudal lords who are trying the save their skin to remain MPs by using him first as a screen and then using the ethnic model and the ethnic card to survive somehow for a few more months, added Hamid. According to him, this is against the MRF.

We won’t allow it, we urge for togetherness within the MRF and for acceptance of those who different as we have done it for so many years, said Hamid. According to him, the Bulgarian Muslims see what Peevski has been doing for them.

Asked whether “the ethic card” is part of MRF’s rhetoric, fellow MP Yordan Tsonev said: “For ten days all our activists have been attacked on the phone and in person with the following: “Will we give our party to them”, Will we, Turks, give away our party”, “Who will take our party - the Bulgarians and the Pomaks?”

Also, Tsonev said that the administrator of a Facebook page, “I Support Ahmed Dogan”, doesn’t delete posts of ethnic nature, whereas all posts in support of Delyan Peevski are deleted.

Asked about the threats, Tsonev cited the names of Dzhevdet Chakarov, Ramadan Atalay, Dzheyhan Ibryamov and Sevim Ali.
