Troops and vehicles of the armed forces of Bulgaria, the United States and Turkiye are moving across Bulgaria by road, rail and air on November 26 and 27 during the rotation of military units participating in a Bulgaria-US training event at the Novo Selo training area and the rotation of a contingent of the Turkish Armed Forces participating in NATO’s KFOR mission in Kosovo, the Bulgarian Defence Ministry said on Tuesday. The forces are being escorted by military police.

Events like the current one at Novo Selo have been taking place since 2019 according to the plans of the Bulgarian Armed Forces for personnel training at home and abroad, the Defence Ministry said. Units of the US Army Europe take part in such training on a rotation basis.

The joint training improves the capabilities of the Bulgarian Armed Forces to perform their constitutionally assigned functions related to the country’s defence and the protection of its territorial integrity, and enhances interoperability in the collective defence system.
