The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) expanded the circle of its partners among educational institutions by signing an agreement with the Rakovski National Defence College (NDC) on Friday. BTA Director General Kiril Valchev and NDC Commandant Maj. Gen. Todor Dochev affixed their signatures to the document.

Describing NDC as one of Bulgaria's most important educational establishments, Valchev said the conclusion of the agreement coincides with celebrations of 20 years of Bulgaria in NATO and a BTA exhibition on the bloc's 75th anniversary. It is the national news agency's 31st accord with a Bulgarian university. Negotiations are underway for another 14 such documents, and seven more are farther down the road, Valchev said. BTA's objective is to sign agreements with all Bulgarian universities, he noted.

Dochev said NDC has cooperated with BTA on quite a few occasions over the last year even without an agreement. This, he said, is very important for the public visibility of the college and its activities.

NDC co-founded the NATO Partnership for Peace Consortium of Defense Academies and Security Studies Institutes in 1999 and hosted the first conference of the organization, which will mark its 25th anniversary in May, Dochev said.

He expressed hope that the partnership with BTA provides another chance for NDC to get closer to the public and present its achievements in the best possible way.
