Lawmakers here on Thursday voted at first reading amendments to the Feedingstuffs Act, which regulates medical feedingstuffs to be produced only from veterinary medicinal products authorised by legislation. Ninety-seven MPs voted in favour of the amendments, one was against and twelve abstained. The provisions were tabled by the Council of Ministers.
The draft law lays down rules for the approval of feed business operators and rules to be followed by them to produce medicated feedingstuffs.
The amendments also introduce a system for collection and disposal of unused or expired intermediate products and medicated feedingstuffs.
Registration of establishments retailing food for non-food producing animals is to be included in the scope of the bill.
The provisions also amend the Veterinary Practice Act to exclude from its scope the procedure for registering pet food retail establishments.
