No official response from the President yet, but judging from the position of the Presidency, I remain convinced that the President will make his decision without ever taking into account all the cases I have listed in the reasoned request to him, Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov told journalists in Burgas on Friday on the occasion of his request submitted to the presidential institution for the dismissal of the Interior Ministry's Secretary General Commissioner Petar Todorov.
Commenting on his motives for requesting Todorov's dismissal, Stoyanov said he was referring to cases in which, according to him, there have been numerous shortcomings on the part of the authorities, as a result of which the coordination, control and organization of all services have been violated.
Stoyanov took part in a ceremony to unveil a memorial plaque to the two policemen who died in an incident with a bus of migrants on August 25, 2022. He said that there are shortcomings, which if not had been allowed, "we would not be here today".
The minister said there was absolutely nothing political about his demand to remove the Secretary General. "With the motivated report to the President, I am fulfilling one of my executive powers," Stoyanov said.
