The Association of the Balkan News Agencies-Southeast Europe (ABNA-SE) has updated its website where each of ABNA-SE’s 12 members gets one of its news stories published every day. The Association’s members include the Albanian Telegraphic Agency (ATA), Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Federal News Agency (FENA), the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA), the Athens News Agency-Macedonian Press Agency S.A. (ANA-MPA), Italy’s Agenzia Nazionale Stampa Associata (ANSA), Kosovo’s News Agency (KOSOVAPRESS), the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), the Romanian National News Agency (AGERPRES), North Macedonia’s Media Information Agency (MIA), Turkiye’s Anadolu Agency (AA), the Croatian News Agency (HINA), and the Montenegro Independent News Agency (MINA).

The page was launched a year after ABNA-SE was entered in the Register of non-profit legal entities of Bulgaria’s Registry Agency on October 6, 2022. The decision for the Association’s registration was taken at ABNA-SE’s 30th General Assembly, which BTA hosted on September 19, 2022, in the southeastern city of Burgas on the Black Sea Coast. It was at that time that Bulgaria became the seat of the Association and BTA Director General Kiril Valchev its Secretary General.

The idea for the establishment of the Association arose at a meeting of Balkan news agencies’ representatives in Sofia in September 1994. The first General Assembly was held in Thessaloniki, Greece, in June 1995. The aim of the organisation is to enable cooperation between news agencies in the region, and to contribute to the establishment of a climate of peace, friendship, and cooperation in the Balkans.
