Sign Memorandum of Understanding
Sofia, March 8 (BTA) - Bulgaria's Electricity System Operator (ESO), the Electricity Transmission System Operator of North Macedonia (MEPSO) and Albania's Transmission System Operator (OST) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Development of the Electricity Market and Strengthening Regional Cooperation in Southeastern Europe through Mutual Assistance, ESO said in a press release on Friday. The Bulgarian Electricity System Operator hosted the meeting.
The sides declared their will to cooperate closely and contribute to the development of the electricity market by coupling the national "day ahead" markets and integrating them with the single European electricity markets. The Memorandum further provides for the pooling of the "day ahead" market segment at the three countries' common borders to be accompanied by an implicit allocation of inter-system transmission capabilities in line with the European Target Model, ESO said.
By signing the document, the three electricity system operators express their determination to pursue regional cooperation through the establishment of a Regional Security Centre in a EU Member State in Southeastern Europe, the press release says. LI/LG
