Sofia, March 13 (BTA) - In 2018, Bulgarian export to the EU grew by 9.1 per cent from the year before and totalled 37,697.5 million leva, according to snap statistics of the National Statistical Institute released on Wednesday. In December 2018, export to the EU increased by 6.6 per cent from this time last year and stood at 2,681 million leva.

Bulgarian import from the EU in 2018 increased by 5.5 per cent from the year before, to reach 39,903.8 million leva at CIF prices.

In December 2018, import into Bulgaria from the EU member states dropped by 6.7 per cent from December 2017, to reach 3,064.1 million leva.

Bulgaria-EU trade in 2018 shows a deficit of 2,206.3 million leva (FOB export - CIF import). Recalculated into FOB/FOB prices (after eliminating transport and insurance cost for imports), the trade shows a surplus of 290.3 million leva. RY/LN/
