site.btaBSP: Talks with GERB-UDF Were About Policies
This meeting was necessary to meet the expectations of the public that parliamentary forces should have a dialogue, said BSP-United Left chairman Atanas Zafirov after a meeting with the leadership of the parliamentary group of GERB-UDF on Wednesday.
He explained that these were not negotiations for forming a government, but a conversation on issues of national significance. Zafirov recalled that over time BSP has had many disputes with GERB and which is why Wednesday's conversation was about policies. Zafirov pointed out that among the topics they discussed was the 2025 Budget, he risks to the financial stability of the state, and the need to guarantee the social rights of Bulgarian citizens.
Asked to comment possible participation of the Left in a future government, he said that “there are enough Right-wing formations in parliament that can easily form a government”. “If they decide that a future government needs Left policies, we can have dialogue”.
Dragomir Stoynev said that GERB-UDF agreed with the request of the left to postpone the liberalization of the electricity market for household consumers by two years.
