Salvador Dali's biggest exhibition featuring 170 of his works will be unveiled here on Wednesday. Until May 12, 2024, visitors will be able to see big and small sculptures, lithographs, miniatures, and jewelry created by the surrealist. Also exhibited is the famous Mae West Lips Sofa.

The artworks are part of the collection of modern art expert Beniamino Levi, which includes the biggest number of Dali's creations. The project is estimated at over EUR 30 million.

Jasmine Merli, who works for Levi, told BTA that he met Dali in the 1960s and ordered a series of bronze sculptures. Levi later became the artist's agent. The exhibition took four months to prepare. Four big trucks were needed to transport the works from Budapest to Bucharest, she explained.

Bucharest Mayor Nicusor Dan commented for journalists that the exhibition proves Bucharest is growing. The Romanian capital is hosting at the same time exhibitions of Picasso, Dali, and Brauner, which is a lot for the city. "Culture and education form one's identity. That is who we are. That is why we have decided to invest in art. These are also strong argument to apply for European Capital of Culture," he said.
