site.btaParliament Adopts on First Reading Judicial System Act Amendments
The National Assembly adopted here Monday on first reading amendments to the Judicial System Act. The amendments were submitted by MPs Kiril Petkov, Nadezhda Yordanova and Bozhidar Bozhanov (Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria).
The Parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee’s report notes that the bill aims to put an end to possible contradictory interpretations of the current provisions and to guarantee their effective implementation in regards to crimes committed by a deputy prosecutor general. One of the proposals is the creation of systems for the random distribution of cases which meet high security requirements, while keeping the current systems in use until the new ones are introduced. The bill also proposes the introduction of a single system for random distribution, which meets high standards, is subject to regular audits and is used for all purposes under the Judicial System Act.
Parliament also ratified the EU-Vietnam investment protection agreement, signed on June 30, 2019 in Hanoi.
