The national men's and women's teams of Bulgaria kept up their strong showing at the 45th Chess Olympiad in Budapest on Thursday. In the second round, the men defeated the Albanian team by 3.5:0.5 points and the women beat Egypt by the same score.
The men's games ended with three victories and one draw: Ashiku Franc 0 - 1 Cheparinov Ivan; Pasko Llambi ½ - ½ Naiditsch Arkadij; Mehmeti Dritan 0 - 1 Petkov Momchil; Veleshnja Zino 0 - 1 Grigorov Grigor.
The women's games ended as follows: Wafa Shrook 0 - 1 Stefanova Antoaneta; Wafa Shahenda 0 - 1 Radeva Viktoria; Romany Joy ½ - ½ Krasteva Beloslava; Allam Yara 0 - 1 Peycheva Gergana.
Both men and women have four match points after the first two rounds.
The third round of the Chess Olympiad is on Friday. It will be clear who the Bulgarians will be playing after all matches for the day are over on Thursday.
Nearly 200 nations are participating in the competition.
