Head of State Rumen Radev awarded the Bulgarian medallists and finalists of the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris with the President's Honorary Badge, plaques and diplomas on Thursday. "You inscribed your names forever in golden letters in the glorious history of Bulgarian sport," Radev said during the ceremony.
"Not only did you achieve your goals and the goals set by your coaches, the [Bulgarian Olympic] Committee and the federations, but you also made us feel proud to be Bulgarian. You gave us faith that we can measure up to the greatest and beat them. With your dedication, will and hard work you have become a role model for our whole society. I can boldly say you are idols for every sporting Bulgarian child. You have become among our best ambassadors abroad and made the world talk again about the strong and invincible Bulgarian sports school," he addressed the Bulgarian athletes.
The head of State also expressed gratitude to all the coaches and the people who support the sport.
Bulgaria finished 26th in the medal standings in Paris 2024 with three golds and a total of seven medals. Another title was won at the Paralympics.
