Number of Minors and Juvenile Offenders Registered in Child Pedagogic Rooms in 2015 down 10.9% Y/Y

Sofia, April 20 (BTA) - The number of minors and juveniles registered in the child pedagogic rooms for anti-social acts and crimes commitment in 2015 was 9,596. In comparison with 2014 their number decreased by 10.9 per cent, the National Statistical Institute said Wednesday.

The number of minors and juveniles new entrants (registered for the first time) in the child pedagogic rooms in 2015 was 2,849 or 29.7 per cent of the total number of persons, registered in the CPRs. 69.6 per cent of them were juveniles. Compared to 2014 their number decreased by 14.7 per cent.

The number of minors and juveniles who passed through the child pedagogic rooms for committed antisocial acts in 2015 was 6,145. Boys were 4,192 or 68.2 per cent as girls were 1,953 or 31.8 per cent. In comparison with 2014 the number of anti-social acts perpetrators increased by 773 persons or by 14.4 per cent.

In the structure of surveyed anti-social acts, the greatest was the share of children passed on to the child pedagogic rooms for 'running away from home' - 1,512 children or 24.6 per cent, followed by 'drug addiction' - 572 or 9.3 per cent and for 'wandering and begging' - 380 persons (6.2 per cent).

In 2015 the number of minors and juveniles, registered in the child pedagogic rooms for crime commitment was 5,362 and decreased by 0.7 per cent in comparison with 2014.

Minors and juvenile victims of crimes in 2015 were 1,751, 655 or 37.4 per cent of them were girls. The relative share of minors - victims of crimes was 34.3 per cent (601 persons) and juveniles - 65.7 per cent or 1,150.

In 2015 5,240 legal correctional educational proceedings were initiated by the Local Commissions for Combating Anti-social Acts of minors and juveniles in 2015, 3,752 (71.6 per cent) of them were initiated by the prosecutors. /BR
