Burglars Steal Pension Money in Haskovo's Central Post Office
Haskovo, Southern Bulgaria, June 8 (BTA) - Burglars stole the money for the payment of pensions from the Central Post Office in Haskovo in a night robbery, head of the Regional Directorate of the Interior Angel Tsankov said on Wednesday. He said that the footage of CCTV cameras from the building is being checked. Citing Interior Ministry sources, the national radio said that the stolen amount is 1.8 million leva.
An alert was made around 4.30 a.m. on Wednesday by a passer-by who heard the cries for help of the security guard, Tsankov said. The guard was left in a helpless state by the thieves who were more than three. The guard is in a stable condition, Tsankov said.
The money was kept in three strong boxes in a special room, which was burgled.
After the burglary, the thieves tried to erase their traces by pouring a liquid in the building and scattering hairs which they had obtained from hair-styling studios.
Investigative sources said that the robbery had been carefully prepared and professionally conducted. Involvement of an employee of the post office is not ruled out.
