Bulgaria, Romania to Sign Agreement on Joint Contracting of Medicines

Sofia, September 12 (BTA) - Bulgaria and Romania will sign an agreement on joint contracting of medicines, probably until the end of this month, Bulgarian Health Minister Peter Moskov said here on Monday. He was taking part in a Patient Access Partnership (PACT) Regional Conference on "Ways to Improve Access to Quality Healthcare in Central and Eastern Europe".

The two governments are fully ready to sign such an agreement within September and to lay it before the two parliaments for ratification, he added, thanking his Romanian colleague for working hard to make this possible.

Moskov said that at the EU Council of Ministers in Luxembourg a couple of months ago, the European Commission formally confirmed that trade in medicines should not be treated as trade proper because it involves a different kind of assets which must be safeguarded.
