87 Migrants Prevented from Illegally Crossing into Bulgaria from Turkey in Six Attempts

Sofia, September 19 (BTA) - Over the weekend, officers of the Elhovo Precinct Border Police Department prevented 87 migrants from illegally crossing into Bulgaria from Turkey in six attempts, the Chief Directorate Border Police said in a press release on Monday.

On Monday morning, officers of the Dragoman Precinct Border Police Department apprehended 18 aliens in an attempt to cross illegally into Serbia from Bulgaria. The migrants (15 men and three women) were detected at 1 km from the border, in the area of Kalotina Village. Three of them are undocumented. The rest claim they come from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq. They are registered at the State Agency for Refugees. The aliens are held at the Kalotina Precinct Border Police Station.
