Regional Development Minister Pavlova, Romanian Counterpart Dancu Discuss Cross-border Cooperation

Sofia, October 15 (BTA) - Regional Development and Public Works Minister Liliyana Pavlova held a working meeting with Romania's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development and Public Administration, Vasile Dancu, Pavlova's Ministry reported on Saturday.

The two have discussed the implementation of the Bulgaria-Romania Cross-border Programme 2014-2020. The programme was faced with the inability to complete the selection of investment projects, submitted within the first call, due to the Monitoring Committee's lack of consensus.

The decision that was made during the meeting is to be submitted for approval by the Programme's Monitoring Committee during its next meeting.

The Romania-Bulgaria Interreg V-A Programme is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and has a total budget of 258.5 million euro. The Programme aims to develop the border area between the two countries by financing joint projects. It is jointly managed by the two countries' ministries.

Seven regions in Romania and eight regions in Bulgaria are eligible for assistance under the programme.
