Ecuador to Tap Bulgaria's Experience in Metro Construction,Dealing with Illegal Buildings
Quito/Sofia, October 20 (BTA) - Regional Development Minister Liliyana Pavlova met with Quito's Mayor Mauricio Rodas during a working visit to Ecuador for Habitat III, the UN Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development.
Pavlova and Rodas discussed a broad range of aspects of urban development and the challenges to urban management. They exchanged views on the two countries' priority policies and investment in transport and water infrastructure, dealing with illegal buildings, and energy efficiency as a state policy, the Regional Development Ministry said.
Rodas asked about the construction of Sofia's metro as one of Europe's most modern underground railways because Quito is planning to build one in the near future.
Pavlova said she would provide information on Bulgaria's way of dealing with illegal construction as nearly 70 per cent of buildings in Ecuador's capital are unlawful.
