Government Debt in 2015 Stood at 26% of GDP

Sofia, October 21 (BTA) - In 2015, government debt stood at 23,049 million leva, or 26% of GDP, according to final data of the National Statistical Institute, released on Friday.

The general government institutional sector reported a deficit of 1, 490 million leva or 1.7 per cent of GDP.

The central government deficit amounted to 619 million leva or 0.7 per cent of GDP. The local government sub-sector reported a deficit of 834 million leva and the social security funds subsector - 36 million leva.

The difference between preliminary and final data is due to receiving final data on: revenues from taxes; annual reports on the activity of the state hospitals and public corporations, classified in general government sector and trial balances of the budget spending units and municipalities.
