Legal Affairs Committee Approves Election Code Amendments, Will Go Before Full House on Wednesday

Sofia, October 25 (BTA) - The National Assembly Legal Affairs Committee Tuesday approved amendments to the Election Code which will be put to a second-reading plenary debate and conclusive vote on Wednesday.

According to the proposed revisions, the total number of voting sections in non-EU Member States will not exceed 35 per country. No second ballot box will be used in the sections at the forthcoming presidential elections. The "None Of The Above" votes will be considered valid in presidential and mayoral elections but will be ignored in presidential elections so as not to raise the 4 per cent electoral threshold for entry into the legislature, the Committee members resolved.
