Caretaker Justice Minister Updates EU Countries Ambassadors on Progress in Judicial Reform

Sofia, February 27 (BTA) - The caretaker government will spare no efforts to continue the process of reforms in an irreversible way, caretaker Justice Minister Maria Pavlova said Monday during a working meeting with the ambassadors of Britain, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, the French charge d'affaires, and the head of the representation of the European Commission in Sofia.

Pavlova familiarized the diplomats with the 2017 Action Plan setting forth 48 priorities based on the European Commission's report of January 25 on progress under the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism adopted by the government last week. The plan sets out the institutions tasked with concrete measures and deadlines. "Three of the measures have already been implemented," Pavlova said.

The participants in the meeting also discussed the independent analysis of the prosecuting magistracy carried out with assistance by experts from the Structural Reform Support Service of the EC, noting that this constitutes an excellent example of cooperation in such a format between Bulgaria, the EC and member states.
