Caretaker Tourism Minister Baltova Reports 20% Increase in Foreign Tourist Visits in January-March

Sofia, April 28 (BTA) - Caretaker Tourism Minister Stela Baltova reported a 20 per cent increase in the number of foreign tourists who visited Bulgaria between January and March 2017, compared to the same period of last year. There was also a 16 per cent increase in revenue from international tourism between December and February of this year. These are two economic benefits for the sector's development during the caretaker Cabinet's term. "We have a successfully completed caretaker government mandate with good preconditions for the next cabinet's work," Baltova added.

The five leading markets between January and March are Greece, Macedonia, Turkey, Romania and Serbia, the Tourism Minister said.

Revenue from beach concessions stand at 241,275 leva as of April 27, while revenue from rent totals 6.4 million leva, compared to 3.6 million leva in 2016.
