Andrei Klimov
Sofia, February 19 (BTA) - National Assembly Chair Tsveta Karayancheva met Tuesday with Russia's Federation Council MP Andrei Klimov to discuss opportunities for deepening the parliamentary cooperation between Bulgaria and Russia, the National Assembly press centre said.
Karayancheva said that the National Assembly is ready to continue working on strengthening and expanding the cooperation. "It is important to put effort into developing our relations in the energy and tourism spheres," she noted.
Klimov was confident that both Bulgarian and Russian MPs can cooperate in a number of spheres of mutual interest, and noted that friendship groups can play a big role in opening a parliamentary dialogue.
Karayancheva noted that Bulgarian-Russian relations are founded on long-standing historical traditions, cultural closeness and friendly relations. She said that the 140th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries is an important event that will be commemorated here.
She also informed Klimov of the celebrations devoted to the 140th anniversary of establishing Bulgaria's Constituent Assembly (now National Assembly) and adopting the Turnovo Constitution. LI/TH
