Six Persons Prosecuted
for Issuing Fake
Pension Documents
Sofia, March 9 (BTA) - Six persons, including a family, have been prosecuted for issuing fake pension documents in the Silistra branch of the National Social Security Institute (NSSI), supervising prosecutor Nikolay Dimitrov said at a briefing here Saturday. A specialized police operation was conducted on March 8 under the supervision of the Specialized Prosecution. Evidence was seized from 14 addresses and from cars, and the persons were searched.
A total of 20 people who were granted pensions with fake documents have been revealed. They either did not have the right to a pension or wanted to retire earlier and to receive higher pensions. The service was paid for from the newly granted pensions. Among the people who benefited from this were former mayors, deputy mayors and town councilors.
Specialized Prosecution speaker Siyka Mileva said that during pre-trial proceedings, the role of Silistra NSSI director Milen Penchev was established. On the phone, he dictated to the Granting Pensions department head personal data of those who wanted to receive pensions. In this way pension documents were formed faster and without the necessary checks. LI/TH
