Seoul/Sofia, September 10 (BTA) - Bulgarian goods, including wines, essential oils and dairy products, have exceptional potential to be exported to the South Korean market, it transpired from a meeting between Bulgarian Economy Minister Emil Karanikolov and the Chairman of the Korea Importers Association (KOIMA), Kwang-hee Hong, the Economy Ministry reported on Tuesday.

KOIMA was established in 1970 and has 8,000 members. It is the only business organization in the Republic of Korea which aims to facilitate imports into the country from abroad and plays a vital role in promoting the country's trade.

During the meeting, KOIMA has shown interest in other high-quality Bulgarian products, which could be released on the South Korean market.

Minister Karanikolov has noted the advantages of Bulgaria as an attractive investment destination during his meetings with the South Korean business representatives. According to him, the Bulgarian Government maintains constant active dialogue and partnership with businesses for implementing a consecutive foreign trade policy, aimed at increasing market presence, improving access to foreign markets and attracting foreign investments.

During his official visit, Karanikolov has also conferred with South Korea's Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Yong-rae, who has noted that focusing on research in the high-tech sector is a niche which will give Bulgaria the image of a country backing technology and activities that bring high added value.
