CSKA Make History as First Third-Tier Team to Win Bulgaria Cup

Sofia, May 25 (BTA) - CSKA won their 20th Bulgaria Cup Final before a 35,000 crowd at the Vassil Levski National Stadium here on Tuesday evening. The Sofia-based club defeated Montana, 1-0, to become the first Division C team to win the trophy ever since the tournament was established 76 years ago.

In June 2015, CSKA were relegated to the third tier as a result of ongoing financial difficulties.

The only goal came from Stanislav Malamov 12 minutes after kick-off.

After the triumph, the winners, accompanied by their fans, paraded with the Cup in an open-top bus across central Sofia.
