Sofia, September 9 (BTA) - Bulgaria expects 100 more Frontex officers for protection of the border, Interior Minister Roumyana Buchvarova said during Question Time in Parliament Friday. Buchvarova recalled that Bulgaria has also requested funding from Germany. The Interior Minister said that the bulk of the aid will be received by September 17, and the remainder, by November.

According to August 17 information by the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria, there are 77 Frontex officers assisting in securing the border with Turkey, and 35 officers at the border with Serbia.

Buchvarova also said that the Bulgarian border is protected by several different systems, 13 motor boats and four helicopters.

An idea is being mulled for having a trilateral coordination centre for border protection at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint with the participation of Turkey and Greece, Buchvarova said.
