site.btaOutgoing Apostolic Nuncio Receives High Bulgarian State Honour

December 30 (BTA) - President Rumen Radev on Thursday presented the Order of the Madara Horseman, First Class, to the outgoing Apostolic Nuncio to Bulgaria, Archbishop Anselmo Guido Pecorari. The diplomat was honoured for his remarkable contribution to the development of relations between the Holy See and Bulgaria.

Radev told Pecorari: "Your service for the development of relations between the Holy See and the Republic of Bulgaria was marked by particular intensity and significant results." Among the results, he singled out the 2019 visit of Pope Francis to Bulgaria, the annual visits of Bulgarian delegations to Rome and Vatican City on the occasion of the Day of Slav Letters, and vigorous charity work.

Archbishop Pecorari said the high Bulgarian state honour he received from the President is a sign of reverence for Pope Francis. VE
