A high-tech training centre for pilots of Airbus 220 aircraft will be built in Sofia’s Slatina area. For this purpose, a property which is not needed for the operations of Sofia Airport EAD and for which there are no investment plans by the state will be included in the capital of the company and will be sold.

The Transport Ministry has received a request from Velgraf Asset Management AD to acquire the property. It is needed for the construction of a complex and the installation of simulators for the training of the pilots of Bulgaria Air. In the past year the airline has implemented large-scale investments, replacing a large part of its fleet with a new generation of Airbus A220 aircraft, which requires upgrading and maintaining the qualification of pilots, in accordance with European aviation safety regulations.

The property subject to investor interest is not included in the concession for the Sofia airport. The sale will be made at a price not lower than the market value determined by an independent valuer.
