Caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, who spoke to reporters here on Wednesday, commented on the work of his cabinet, saying that the last parliamentary elections held on June 9 were fair and preserved Bulgaria's European path.

Glavchev said: "Everybody knows that the main task of any caretaker government is to organize fair and transparent elections. Nobody has objected to the fact that we organized them in this way. Some things even got done for the first time. When the machines were validated in the e-Governance ministry, the lot was drawn by representatives of the media. Then, representatives of political parties and NGOs were involved in the process of validating these machines. For the first time, 20 IT specialists were provided to assist the Central Election Commission, which is the institution that conducts the elections. Together with them we have done them so well. We also heard no criticism from them."

The second task that Glavchev set for himself was to preserve Bulgaria's European path, which he said he was successful in. He listed Bulgaria's participation in international forums and summits, where Bulgaria's contribution was acknowledged. He specifically spoke about US President Joe Biden's words describing Bulgaria as a reliable and loyal NATO ally.

Glavchev noted Bulgaria's continuing efforts for full membership in Schengen and the country's accession to the eurozone.
