Yoana Georgieva of Bulgaria qualified for the women’s kayak single 500m semifinals at the Paris Olympics on Wednesday.

The 2023 U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships silver medallist placed third in the quarterfinal, recording a time of 1:51.74 minutes. She will be paddling for a place in the final on August 10.

The 22-year-old made her Olympic debut in the first heat with a time of 1:55.76 minutes but failed to make it to the top two and advance straight to the semifinals.

The world's fastest paddler in history in the women's K1 500 metres and Copenhagen 2021 World Champion, Aimee Fisher, won the race convincingly with a time of 1:49.16 minutes. Argentina's Brenda Rojas, who is competing at the Olympics for the third consecutive time, came in second with a time of 1:52.68 minutes.
