site.btaStrategy for Navigation Safety, Environmental Protection from Ship Pollution Amended

The Council of Ministers adopted amendments to the Strategy for Safety of Navigation and Environmental Protection from Ship Pollution. The update is in line with recommendations from the International Maritime Organization (IMO), of which Bulgaria is a member.

The strategy introduces more effective coordination between the responsible institutions and better control of their activities. Periodic review and evaluation of the effectiveness of measures and actions is foreseen, and for this purpose the competent authorities will submit annual reports to the Commission for Safety of Navigation and Environmental Protection from Ship Pollution of the Council of Ministers. For its part, the Commission will report in writing to the Council of Ministers no later than the end of the first half of each calendar year on the implementation of the targets.
