December 30 (BTA) - The IN THE PALACE International Short-Film Festival will give entrants the chance to win Academy Award nominations. The event's 19th edition will take place in Pernik between April 2 and 9, 2022, said the organizers.

Both student and established professional filmmakers from Bulgaria entered their films in one of the following categories: Fiction, Documentary, Animation and Experimental. The venue gave the artists a platform for expression despite the ongoing pandemic.

Founded in 2003, IN THE PALACE is one of the oldest short-film forums in the Balkans and the only Academy Award qualifying festival in Bulgaria. It is also a Student Academy Award qualifying event, the organizers said. It has been previously held in Velingrad, Balchik, Sofia and Varna. MT/NZ/LG
