site.btaMinister: Bulgarian EU Presidency Has Accomplished Priorities in Energy Sector

Plovdiv, Southern Bulgaria, June 22 (BTA) - The Bulgarian EU Presidency has accomplished all of its priorities in the field of energy, said Energy Minister Temenouzhka Petkova on Thursday, addressing the first Plovdiv Economic Forum. "We have closed all dossiers. We managed to reach an agreement with the European Parliament, with the European Commission and the EU members states," she said.

Petkova said that an extremely important dossier on the electricity from renewable sources has been agreed.

On 14 June 2018 the Commission, the Parliament and the Council reached a political agreement which includes a binding renewable energy target for the EU for 2030 of 32 per cent, with a clause for an upwards revision by 2023.

Bulgaria is one of the EU members which may serve as an example in this sense, as it achieved much earlier its national benchmark of 16 per cent for RES energy in the gross electricity consumption, recalled Petkova.

Petkova participated in a panel on energy at the economic forum.
