site.btaAzerbaijan Resumes Natgas Deliveries to Bulgaria on Jan. 19 - Bulgargaz
Azerbaijan resumed natural gas deliveries to Bulgaria on January 19, state-owned supplier Bulgargaz said on Monday. The company recalled that deliveries were suspended on January 7 due to a technical issue.
During the suspension, Bulgargaz relied on various sources to supply the necessary quantities of natural gas to its customers, including the Chiren underground gas storage facility, imports of liquefied natural gas from previous deliveries stored in Turkiye, and liquified natural gas from the terminal in Alexandroupolis, Greece.
On January 11, it transpired that the suspension was due to a malfunction of a pipeline carrying natural gas from the bottom of the Caspian Sea to the Sangachal Terminal on the Caspian shore south of Azerbaijan's capital Baku. While deliveries were initially expected to resume on January 15, the issue took longer to resolve. The final indicative date for the resumption of supplies was set for January 19.
