One hundred and thirty-five competitors from 19 countries have applied to take part in the FIS Snowboard World Cup in Bansko. The winter resort in Pirin will host the prestigious competition between January 17 to 19, and between January 20 to 22, European Cup competitions will also take place.

At a press conference in Sofia, Bulgarian Ski Federation President (BSF) Tseko Minev, said that everything is ready in Bansko for the competition, and that its importance is also evidenced by the applications submitted by teams such as Italy and Germany, who are arriving with their full squads.

"We have earned the right to hold competitions of this scale, because our federation is a very good organizer. In addition, in alpine snowboarding we have big names such as Big Crystal Globe 2016 and Crystal Globe 2017 winner Radoslav Yankov, as well as the very strong young generation, which includes the world junior champions. That is precisely why the interest in these competitions in Bulgaria is very high. Preparations are in full swing, and I hope that we will be ready. I expect the conditions on the day of the competition to be very good. So far, 135 competitors from 19 nations have registered," said Minev, expressing hope that everyone will feel the thrill of this big event.

BFS Deputy President Georgi Bobev added that the organizers have prepared many surprises for the spectators. One of them will be a parade of nations, which will open the World Cup. It will start from the orchard in front of the Four Points Hotel and continue to the lower station of the gondola lift.
