Bulgaria's shooting sports legend Vesela Lecheva has been elected a member of the International Olympic Committee’s Public Affairs and Corporate Communications (PACC) Commission. The Bulgarian has earned the prestigious recognition of being on the Commission alongside other luminaries of sports, science, art, and economics, such as Pal Schmitt, Spyros Capralos, and Kirsty Coventry.

The main task of the PACC Commission is to work on strategies to protect and promote the autonomy and neutrality of sport. It also advises on the role of sport and Olympism in society, as a contributor to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and as a contributor to peace. Lecheva and her fellow commission members will recommend approaches to position the International Olympic Committee as a thought-leader and policy-influencer on the international stage. They will also help devise strategies to enable the Committee’s vision and mission in society to reach a global audience, in full alignment with the Olympism 365 strategy.

The Commission is chaired by the former Colombian Minister of Economic Development and Ambassador to the US, Luis Alberto Moreno.

Vesela Lecheva is currently the President of the Bulgarian Shooting Union. From August 2022 to June 2023, she was Bulgaria’s caretaker Minister of Youth and Sports.
