Twenty Bulgarian wines received medals from the world competition Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (CMB), which was held in Burgas. Bulgarian producers were awarded 3 gold and 17 silver medals. Over 1,000 white wines from 26 countries competed for points from the international jury.
The tastings were carried out "blind". France won the most awards. "Bulgarian producers showed that their production is competitive with the world leaders in Sauvignon production - France, Austria, South Africa and New Zealand. Of the 56 Bulgarian wines that took part in the competition, 20 received awards and they were from different regions of the country," said CMB official representative Meglena Mihova. The gold medal winners are the Stallion Selection Sauvignon Blanc 2024 from Angel's Estate Winery, Levent Sauvignon Blanc 2024 from Levent Wine House and Pentagram Sauvignon Blanc 2023 from Black Sea Gold.
This year's edition of the competition in Burgas was opened by Tourism Minister of Miroslav Borshosh. One of the main areas of the competition program was the Sauvignon Selection. It was organized by the company Probegex, the official representative of CMV for Bulgaria, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the Municipality of Burgas.
It is the first time that Sauvignon Selection is held outside the countries with traditions in the production of wines of this variety. This is an exceptional opportunity for the host country, which can present its traditions in wine production and not only. But it is also an opportunity for the jury members to explore new or little-known territories, said Meglena Mihova, the competition's ambassador for Bulgaria, during the opening ceremony.
