site.btaMinister Kirilov Signs Agreement for Implementation of "Prevention and Health Promotion" Programme

Minister of Health Silvi Kirilov signed an agreement for the implementation of the programme "Prevention and Health Promotion", financed under the Swiss-Bulgarian Cooperation Programme, the Health Ministry announced on its website Wednesday. The official ceremony at the Council of Ministers was attended by Swiss Ambassador Raymund Furrer, Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev, and Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev.

“This is an extremely important stage in the Ministry of Health's multi-year efforts to increase health literacy among children and adolescents,” Minister Kirilov said, adding that the programme will enable the pilot introduction of enhanced health education and communication measures in three municipalities, involving schools, kindergartens and nurseries. 

“The partners are the Swiss School of Public Health, UNICEF-Bulgaria, the National Centre for Public Health and Analyses, and the joint work with the Ministry of Education and Science is key to the successful implementation of the programme, as well as to establishing health topics as a significant part of Bulgarian education,” Minister Kirilov added. In his words, for the implementation of the programme, the full cooperation of the national coordination unit with the Council of Ministers, the programme operator with the Ministry of Education and Science, and the Swiss Cooperation Office is expected.
