site.btaPM Zhelyazkov: There Is Potential for Increase of Revenues in State Budget
There is potential to increase revenues in the state budget, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said during Friday's Question Time in Parliament. He presented data on the State's financial situation.
He specified that the potential lies in bringing the grey economy into the light and the use of new sources, which will be enabled by the functioning of the Schengen area, as well as better work of regulators and other authorities.
In his words, it is important for the newly elected government what kind of budget it will propose and defend and, if it manages to gather the support of Parliament, how the cabinet will ensure the budget's implementation.
According to him, there will be a clearer picture of the state of public finances when the data for the last quarter of 2024 are seen. These data will be clearly disclosed and will serve in the draft state budget for 2025 so that similar violations of financial discipline are not allowed, Zhelyazkov underscored. According to the Prime Minister, in the past, expenditures have been incurred in the budget that were not secured by the previous power holders.
He called for calm until the 2025 State Budget Bill is tabled in the National Assembly.
