Bulgarian Union of Balneology and Spa Tourism (BUBSPA) Chair Siyka Katsarova is on a two-day official visit to Brussels, where she is participating in the Destination Europe Summit 2025, the association said on Thursday. The event brings together leading EU policymakers, tourism industry experts, and business representatives to discuss key issues and challenges shaping the future of European tourism.

Also attending the event in Brussels is Bulgarian Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh, who was briefed by Katsarova and European Spa Association (ESPA) Secretary General Csilla Mezosi on projects related to the development of health tourism. These initiatives are currently being discussed with members of the European Commission and the European Parliament.

Discussions at the forum covered topics such as the sustainable development of tourism, the impact of geopolitical instability and climate change, and support measures for the sector in the post-COVID-19 era. Katsarova was the only representative from Bulgaria’s non-governmental tourism sector.

Among the participants were EU Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas, Italian Tourism Board (ENIT SpA) President Alessandra Priante, and Booking Holdings Inc. CEO Glenn Fogel, alongside members of the European Parliament.

In her capacity as Vice President of the European Spa Association, Katsarova also held a meeting with the team of European Commissioner for Startups, Research, and Innovation Ekaterina Zaharieva.
