BNB's Silver Commemorative Coin With Bulgarian Bagpipe

From November 25, 2024, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) is releasing into circulation a silver commemorative coin celebrating the Bulgarian bagpipe. The new coin is part of the Bulgarian Customs and Traditions series, the BNB announced Friday.

The price of the coin when released into circulation will be BGN 156. The coin will be sold at the BNB.

Each client will be able to purchase only 1 coin from the cash desks of the Bulgarian National Bank, regardless of whether they purchase in their own name and at their own expense or in the name and at the expense of another person. To purchase a coin in the name and at the expense of another person, it is necessary to present a notarized power of attorney for the purchase of the specific commemorative coin. A client who purchases a coin from the BNB cash desks as a natural person will not have the right to purchase another coin as a representative of a legal entity, and this restriction also applies in the opposite case. Coins are not sold to persons under 18 years of age.

By the end of the working day on November 25, the new coin will be provided by the BNB to Investbank AD, First Investment Bank AD, Texim Bank AD, Tokuda Bank AD and Central Cooperative Bank AD for sale in their offices and branches.

The obverse of the coin features: in the centre – the BNB logo with the year ‘1879’ on the strip; underneath – the year of issue ‘2024’ and the nominal value ‘10 ЛЕВА’ (10 levs). The text ‘БЪЛГАРСКА НАРОДНА БАНКА’ (Bulgarian National Bank) inscribed in circumference on the top, and a stylised ornament on the bottom. The reverse of the coin features: a stylised depiction of two pipers – a man and a child in national costumes. A stylised ornament and the inscription ‘БЪЛГАРСКАТА ГАЙДА’ (The Bulgarian bagpipe) in circumference on the top. The authors of the coin design are Svetlin Balezdrov and Stoyan Dechev.
