site.btaRegistrations of Businesses Up 1.6% in EU, Down 0.5% in Bulgaria in Q1 of 2024, Q/Q
In the first quarter of 2024, the number of bankruptcy declarations of EU businesses decreased by 0.8% compared with the fourth quarter of 2023, according to data published on the website of Eurostat. At the same time, business registrations were up by 1.6% in the first quarter of 2024 compared with the previous quarter.
Eurostat estimates that the number of insolvency filings in Bulgaria in the first quarter of 2024 increased by 1.3% on a quarter-on-quarter basis. In the last quarter of 2023, they jumped by 13.1%.
Also in the first quarter of 2024, relative to the fourth quarter of 2023, new business registrations in Bulgaria fell by 0.5%. By comparison, in October-December 2023 on a quarter-on-quarter basis, registered new Bulgarian businesses was up 2.7%.
