Employees of the Road Transport Administration Executive Agency are on an indefinite and effective strike, so they perform only one task per day, said here on Monday trade union leader Aleksander Ivanov of the Podkrepa Confederation of Labour, who also chairs the national strike committee.
He explained that the protest is mainly over the low pay of employees. The average gross monthly wage is BGN 957 and civil servants are not allowed to work under a second employment contract, Ivanov explained. According to him, the working conditions in the structures of the agency are very bad, there is a need to update the car fleet, the technical equipment, as well as to provide work clothes for employees.
"So far, we have not received an invitation for negotiations from the management of the Agency," said Alexander Ivanov and explained that a meeting has been held at which the trade union representatives were informed that there is no money to meet their demands.
The system employs 460 people across the country. The strike will continue, and there is a readiness to completely stop work, he said.
