At the proposal of Bulgartransgaz Executive Director Vladimir Malinov, the company's Management and Supervisory Boards decided to launch a public tender in connection with the Vertical Corridor initiative of the gas transmission operators of Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Ukraine and Moldova. It comes in implementation of a decision of the National Assembly from March 14, 2024, promulgated on Tuesday in the State Gazette, Bulgartransgaz said on Wednesday.

The launch of the public procurement, in compliance with the applicable Bulgarian and European legislation, is in connection with the implementation of the projects to increase the natural gas transmission capacity at the interconnection points Kulata/Sidirokastro in the direction from Greece to Bulgaria and Negru Voda/Kardam in the direction from Bulgaria to Romania.

The expansion of Bulgartransgaz's gas transmission infrastructure will allow achieving the Vertical Corridor's objectives of diversification and improving security of supply by transporting additional quantities of natural gas from south to north, the company said.

The first public procurement to be carried out under the Public Procurement Act is for "Spatial planning, investment design, supply of necessary materials and equipment, construction and commissioning of new facilities for the extension of Bulgartransgaz's gas transmission infrastructure to increase capacities at the interconnection points Kulata/Sidirokastro and Negru Voda/Kardam". The estimated value of the procurement is BGN 586,669,410 excluding value added tax.
