Branch organizations support Martin Zahariev, Deputy Chairperson of Management Board of the National Tourism Board Association for the position of Tourism Minister, the Association of Restaurants in Bulgaria  said in an open letter to GERB-UDF, Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria, as well as to Maria Gabriel in her capacity as a candidate for prime minister.

The organizations stressed that it does not matter which political force will manage Bulgarian tourism by virtue of the rotation, but that they are firmly of the opinion that there should be no more political appointments in tourism. The head of the Tourism Ministry must be a proven expert whom the industry trusts and who has the qualities to lead it in the right direction, implement the long-awaited reforms and position it in a more favorable position compared to competitors.

Dr. Zahariev has always had his civil and expert positions, which he has defended since the Ministry of Tourism was established in 2014. He has the necessary administrative and management experience to apply them in his capacity as a minister, the letter of the branch organizations also states.

The organizations have united around 10 main priorities that Martin Zahariev and his team must realize within the full term of the mandate. Among them are the prioritization of the tourism sector as a state policy, the consolidation of tourism associations in the sector through the creation of a National Hotel and Restaurant Chamber and a National Tourism Organization.
