The assets managed by insurance companies in Bulgaria аmounted to BGN 10.797 billion as of December 2023, central bank data shows. They increased by BGN 1.191 billion (12.4%) compared to the end of December 2022 and by BGN 418.8 million (4%) compared to the end of the third quarter of 2023.

According to the statistics, the assets of life insurance companies increased by BGN 303.9 million (11.4%) from BGN 2.658 billion at the end of December 2022 to BGN 2.962 billion at the end of the same month last year. Compared to the end of September 2023 (BGN 2.781 billion), they increased by BGN 181.4 million (6.5%). Their relative share in total assets at the end of December last year was 27.4% compared to 27.7% at the end of the fourth quarter of 2022 and 26.8% at the end of September 2023.

Assets managed by general insurance companies increased by BGN 886.8 million (12.8%) from 6.948 billion at the end of December 2022 to 7.835 billion at the end of the same month in 2023 and by 237.4 million (3.1%) from the end of September 2023 (BGN 7.597 billion). As at the end of December last year, the relative share of these assets in the total assets of companies carrying out insurance business was 72.6%, compared with 72.3% at the end of the fourth quarter of 2022 and 73.2% at the end of September 2023.
