In connection with an upcoming review, the Council of Ministers approved a national position of the Republic of Bulgaria on the instruments falling within the scope of the Investment Committee of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), including Codes of Liberalisation.

The Council of Ministers also determined the composition of the Bulgarian delegation to participate in the meeting of the OECD Investment Committee which will be held on March 12 in Paris, France. Finance Minister Assen Vassilev is authorized to present the country's position.

The OECD Investment Committee will carry out the review of Bulgaria on the basis of a report prepared by the Secretariat of the organization, describing the compliance of national legislation and practices with the principles laid down in the legal instruments of the OECD.

Joining the OECD Codes of Liberalisation is part of the path to Bulgaria's full membership in the OECD, which is an important foreign policy priority of the Bulgarian government. The free movement of capital, investment and services is a driver of economic growth, employment and development, promotes competition and economic efficiency, provides financial resources and technological innovation to companies while preserving national interests.
