Bulgaria's annual inflation rate continued decelerating and was a single digit for the seventh month in a row in December 2023, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Monday.
In December 2023, the monthly inflation rate was 0.3%, while the annual inflation compared to December 2022 was 4.7%. The annual average inflation rate for the January-December 2023 period compared to January-December 2022 was 9.5%.
In December 2023, the prices of goods and services increased in the following consumer groups:
- Recreation and culture by 2.4%;
- Restaurants and hotels 0.7%;
- Miscellaneous goods and services 0.7%;
- Food and non-alcoholic beverages 0.7%;
- Alcoholic beverages and tobacco 0.3%;
- Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels 0.1%;
- Health care 0.1%.
The prices of goods and services decreased in the following consumer groups:
- Transport by 1.5%;
- Clothing and footwear 0.6%;
- Communications 0.3%.
The prices of services in Education and in Furnishings, household equipment and routine home maintenance remained unchanged, the NSI said.
